The monument:
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul.

Constructed between 1846 and 1864, the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul is the largest Catholic church in Pennsylvania and a centerpiece of Philadelphia’s Logan Square. Designed by Napoleon LeBrun and John Notman in the ornate Roman-Corinthian style, the structure is modeled after the Lombard Church of St. Charles in Rome. Its massive brownstone facade and towering copper-clad dome have made it a prominent fixture of the city's skyline for over 150 years. The interior is equally breathtaking, featuring a grand vaulted ceiling and stunning frescoes by Constantino Brumidi.

As the mother church of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Basilica has hosted two Papal visits and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It stands today as a testament to the city’s rich immigrant history and architectural ambition, offering a serene and majestic atmosphere that continues to inspire residents and visitors alike.
