Luminiscence - LUMINISCENCE at the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption basilica in Nice

An Immersive Sound System

The show's original soundtrack creates a dialogue between the great masters of classical music: Johann-Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, Giuseppe Verdi, and Erik Satie. Performed by the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring over 70 musicians and choir members, the music is spatialized through an innovative sound system positioned all around the audience. Combined with the exceptional acoustics of the venue, the sound is transformed into matter, movement, and emotion.

Live Choir

Every weekend, the celestial voices of one of the region’s finest choirs, Camerata Apollonia, enhance the new LUMINISCENCE original soundtrack. Under the direction of Matthieu Peyregne, these choristers bring a unique dimension to the performance, elevating the composition by Samuel Sené and Guillaume Coignard. A perfect harmony of music, architecture, and emotion that deeply moves every spectator.

The monument:
Basilica Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption

The Basilica Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Nice is a major religious building, constructed between 1864 and 1879 after the attachment of Nice to France. Located on the avenue Jean Médecin, it was designed by the architect Charles Lenormand in a neo-Gothic style, inspired by Notre-Dame de Paris and the abbatiale St Serge d'Angers.

With its two 31-meter towers and its large rose window, it is an important religious and architectural symbol for the city. The basilica is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on August 15. Classified as a historical monument in 1975, it has undergone several restorations to preserve its splendor. It remains a central place in the spiritual and cultural life of Nice.

What does the experience involve?

Combining 360-degree video mapping and live music, LUMINISCENCE offers you an immersive journey into the heart of the history of the basilica in Nice. After a triumphant tour of France's most beautiful basilicas and more than 1,000,000 captivated spectators, LUMINISCENCE returns to unveil its brand new show, the Celestial Odyssey.

This time, something has changed: an ancient breath blows through the nave, the walls come to life, the music rises... A unique sensory journey, where light and sound reveal what has made the basilica's heart beat for centuries.
How long does it last? The experience lasts about 45 minutes. It consists of an immersive journey through the basilica's ambulatory, followed by a seated show in the nave.
Where does it take place? The experience takes place inside the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, 2 Rue d'Italie, 06000, Nice.
When should I arrive? We recommend arriving 20 minutes before the time indicated on your ticket so you can enjoy the light show in the ambulatory before taking your seat in the nave to watch the performance. As seating is unassigned, we cannot guarantee that you will be seated with your group. We therefore recommend arriving early to fully enjoy the experience together.
Is there an age requirement to participate in the experience? The experience is open to everyone. Children who are 2 years old or less are allowed on an adult's lap. Children over this age must have a ticket.
Is it possible to sit down? Yes, once the walk is over, you will be invited to sit in the nave to enjoy the show.
Is it possible to take photos or film during the experience? Yes, you can take photos and film as long as you turn off the flash on your device. However, cameras and cameras with telephoto lenses are not allowed.
Is it possible to buy food and drinks on site? No, this will not be possible.
Will restrooms be available on site? No, we invite you to use the nearby public restrooms.
Is there a cloakroom on site? No, there is no cloakroom for the public. As the basilica is not heated, we recommend that you keep your outer clothing with you.
Can I bring my dog? With the exception of guide dogs, animals are not allowed.

Can I get to the experience by public transportation? The basilica can be reached by public transportation:

  • Bus: line 57
  • Train: Nice-Ville station
Is the venue accessible to people with reduced mobility? Yes, the basilica is accessible to people with reduced mobility. If you are in a wheelchair, our team will assist you in substituting a chair so that you can easily position your wheelchair.
Can I leave and return to the event? No, once you leave, you cannot return. Please use the restrooms outside the basilica before the show begins.

Tickets

Will it be possible to buy a ticket on site? Depending on the number of seats remaining for our performances, a limited number of tickets may be available for purchase on site.
Where can I buy tickets? Tickets are available on Fever. You can also purchase tickets using the Fever app, available on Google Play and the Apple Store.
Is it possible to request a refund? This experience allows you to change the date and/or time up to 7 hours before the start of the event. You can access this option by viewing your ticket in the "Tickets" section of the Fever app, where the "Change date and/or time" button will appear. Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable, except in cases of force majeure, up to 72 hours before the start of the event. For any requests, please contact Fever customer service.
Are tickets valid for other dates of the event? Tickets are exchangeable up to 7 hours before the event. Contact Fever customer service.
Do I need to print my ticket? It is not necessary to print your ticket. You can show the PDF document at the entrance to the venue so that staff can validate the code.
I can't find my ticket. What can I do? You will receive your ticket in PDF format by email after purchase. You can also download it from the "Tickets" section of the Fever app. If you haven't installed it yet, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account you used when purchasing the tickets. If you still can't find your ticket after doing this, please contact us.
How can I get an invoice? Please submit your request via the contact form. Invoices will be available once the event date has passed.
