Home to over 5 million visitors every year, St. Patrick’s Cathedral stands as both a wellspring of hope and one of solace for New York City and beyond. Inspired by the determined leadership of Archbishop John Hughes, construction on the Gothic style cathedral started in 1858. Its doors formally opened to the public in 1879. It’s opening fulfilled a shared vision sustained by the generosity, determination, and the faith of an entire community despite a catastrophic fire, the Civil War, and economic setbacks.
Upon opening, St. Patrick’s Cathedral was the largest church structure in New York City. It’s white marble spires reach 329.5 feet into the sky, and its ringing bells can be heard up to a mile away. The Cathedral is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a New York City landmark. Throughout its history, the Cathedral has had several renovations and restorations to keep the building strong and the congregation revitalized.
As the beloved Mother Church of the Archdiocese of New York, the Cathedral has stood as a beacon for religious freedom, charity, and as a spiritual home for generations of New Yorkers. Pope Benedict XVI celebrated Mass at St. Patrick’s on April 19, 2008, calling upon all present to be “heralds of hope.”

The experience takes place inside St. Patrick's Cathedral:

People usually spend 60 minutes at this experience. The main show lasts 45 minutes but there is a 40 minute pre-show with live music before the designated start time and a walk-through exhibit area where guests can learn more about the historic building and the show..
Please arrive up to 45 minutes before concert time. The security lines will close at the time of the show. Due to the nature of the show and to protect the experience for all, we cannot seat people once the show has begun.
Yes. For the safety and comfort of all guests, absolutely no weapons of any kind are permitted on-site. This includes, but not limited to, knives and guns (including concealed carry). Security reserves the right to enforce this policy at the venue entrance.
Attendees are asked to remove hats prior to entering the nave to respect the wishes of the Cathedral Basilica.
No food or beverages are allowed inside the nave.
