A walk-through exhibition celebrating the rich legacy and future of the Basilica

Before taking your seat for the show, walk freely through the nave of the Basilica, accompanied by the sounds of an exceptional soloist. Along your path, exhibition panels recount the major milestones of its history and invite you to take a closer look at the architecture and the stories that inhabit America’s first basilica. This introduction sets the stage for the wonder and awe of the immersive experience. 

This first portion of the evening is offered exclusively during the Live Choir or Live Choir & Orchestra versions. Approximately 20 minutes.

Sit back comfortably in the nave, lift your eyes, and watch The Basilica of Saint Mary come to life with light. An historic breath sweeps through the nave, sparking the curiosity of a child. In awe, she speaks with The Basilica revealing the foundation and future of The Basilica. From the earliest days, through ups and downs, experience a spectacular journey where past and present converse.

IMMERSIVE CONCERTS WITH THE LUMINISCENCE ORCHESTRA

The LUMINISCENCE Orchestra, featuring musicians from the Twin Cities’ STRINGenius, enhances the voices of the choir during the Live Choir & Orchestra version performed entirely live. These performances offer a unique musical experience, where the power of the orchestra and the emotion of the choir blend perfectly. Experience the musical heritage of the Basilica with total sound immersion.

The Basilica of Saint Mary

Begun in the early 20th century, the Basilica of Saint Mary is a jewel of sacred architecture located in the heart of Minneapolis. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style, it was completed in 1914 and became the first basilica established in the United States. Its elegant dome, soaring twin towers, intricate stone carvings, and magnificent stained-glass windows make it a remarkable landmark. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Built to serve the growing Catholic community of the city, it has stood through times of social change, economic challenges, and world conflicts, all while maintaining its central role in Minneapolis’ spiritual and cultural life. The basilica now welcomes thousands of visitors and worshippers each year and remains one of the most enduring symbols of Minnesota’s heritage.

What can I expect from the event? LUMINISCENCE makes its North American debut, turning stone walls into living canvases of light with 360° video mapping, live music and vibrant story. Feel the Basilica of Saint Mary awaken around you – as a symphony of voices and instruments carry you through decades of art, culture and timeless beauty. LUMINISCENCE is an opportunity for everyone to be transported to the heavens by an immersive experience, as mysteries are unlocked during this celestial odyssey in Minneapolis' arts district.
Where is the experience located? The experience takes place inside The Basilica of Saint Mary, 1600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Does the experience take place in an indoor or outdoor venue? This experience is held indoors.
How long does the experience last? People usually spend 60 minutes at this experience. The main show lasts 45 minutes but there is a 40 minute pre-show with music before the designated start time.
Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase? Unfortunately, there won't be food or beverage for purchase at this event.
Is there parking available? Parking is available across from the Basilica at the Minneapolis College Parking Ramp (also known as the MCTC Parking Ramp) $10.00/entry (Credit Card Only) 1420 Hennepin Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
Will there be additional sessions? Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee there will be extra dates. Please refer to the experience page for updated information on availability, as those are the confirmed dates and timings.
Will there be merchandise for sale? There will not be merchandise for sale at the event.
Is there a script I can read along with during the show? Yes! You're welcome to follow along with the narration by reading the full script here. It's a great way to experience the story visually and textually.

About tickets

Where can I get tickets? In the Fever App, available on Google Play and the Apple Store. On the Fever website.
Can I purchase tickets at the door? Tickets can be booked online. In some cases, they are also available at the box office, subject to availability.
Can I transfer my tickets to another person? Yes, you can transfer your tickets to anyone for free. It is as easy as clicking "Transfer Tickets" on your ticket in the Fever App. Please contact us if you need additional help. Make sure to include your ticket order number.
Do I need to print my ticket? You can find your ticket in the "Tickets" section of the Fever app (you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play). Please remember to log in with the same login method used to make the purchase. You will also find your QR code in your purchase confirmation email.
I can't find my ticket. What should I do? You can view your ticket in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don't have the app installed, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets. If you still cannot find your ticket, please contact us.
Can I change the date of my ticket? Are refunds allowed? For this event, all sales are final and tickets cannot be refunded. No date changes are permitted. For more information, you can consult our T&Cs.
Can I make a group booking? Yes! We offer a 10% discount for group bookings of 6 to 20 tickets made through the Fever app or website. If you're looking to purchase more than 20 tickets, we recommend splitting your purchase into multiple transactions to secure your desired quantity.

About access to the event

Do I need to arrive at the start of my scheduled session? Please arrive at the time stated on your ticket; late entry is not permitted.
Can I bring animals? Are service dogs allowed? Service animals are allowed at the event. Unfortunately, other animals are not allowed.
Is the venue accessible? Yes, the event will take place in an accessible location. Accessible entrance on the west side of the church (N. 17th St). Please enter through the west ground-level doors (handicap-accessible). Then take the elevator to the sanctuary.
Is the experience accessible for deaf/visually impaired people? Unfortunately, this experience could not be fully adapted for deaf and visually impaired people. We do our best to make all our experiences inclusive, but no additional audio guides or transcripts are currently available here.
Will there be strobe lights? Yes, this event will include strobe lights.
Are there chairs available? Can I be seated during the experience/exhibition? This is a seated experience, so seating will be available for every guest.
Will restrooms be available on site? Restrooms are available on the level below the nave. You may ask on-site staff for directions.
Is coat check available? Unfortunately, this venue has no coat check.
Is there an age requirement? All ages are welcome! Tickets are free for children ages 2 years and under, sitting on an adult's lap.
Will there be an audio guide? Unfortunately, this experience does not include an audio guide.
Is there a Lost & Found? We would recommend asking the staff at the venue if they have found your belongings.
Are there any restrictions on what I can bring to the event? Yes. For the safety and comfort of all guests, absolutely no weapons of any kind are permitted on-site. This includes, but not limited to, knives and guns (including concealed carry). Security reserves the right to enforce this policy at the venue entrance.
