The new LUMINISCENCE soundtrack is brought to life each evening by the powerful voices of the Syllepse Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Ophélia Besson, beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Saint-Bonaventure Basilique.

Settle in beneath the vaults of the Basilique des Cordeliers, just steps from the square you may walk through every week, and wander through several centuries of history that most Lyonnais know nothing about. From the first stones of the Middle Ages to the great transformations of the neighbourhood, the monument becomes a living stage brought to life through immersive narration, light and live music.
In this entirely original creation, the stone comes alive through next-generation projection technology, with a precision and depth never seen before. Before your eyes, the centuries come back to life in an odyssey where voice, architecture and light become one.

Accompanied by a live choir
Composed by Guillaume Coignard and Samuel Sené — known for Bond Symphonique, Le Roi Lion and the Disneyland Paris shows — the original soundtrack of L'Odyssée Céleste reinterprets Bach, Debussy, Verdi and Satie in brand-new arrangements.
Each evening, the powerful voices of the Ensemble Vocal Syllepse, conducted by Ophélia Besson, elevate this soundtrack to new heights.

On special evenings, the organ of the Basilica of the Cordeliers comes to life in a live performance, reviving the legend of this historic venue, accompanied by the voices of Ensemble Syllepse and a soundtrack performed by the Slovak National Philharmonic Orchestra.

Located in the heart of the Cordeliers district, one of Lyon's most vibrant neighbourhoods, the Basilica Saint-Bonaventure is nevertheless one of those historic monuments that deserves to be rediscovered. Built in the 13th century by the Franciscans, it has weathered the ages alongside the city's great transformations, never once leaving the square that everyone passes through.
A witness to several centuries of Lyonnais history, the Basilica Saint-Bonaventure has seen merchants, pilgrims and great local figures come and go, in a neighbourhood everyone thinks they know.
Its soaring Gothic vaults, natural interplay of light and history-laden architecture make Saint-Bonaventure a unique place — where heritage, emotion and grandeur finally meet, for those who take the time to step inside.

About the Experience
Combining 360-degree video mapping and live music, LUMINISCENCE takes you on an immersive journey into the heart of the history of Lyon’s Saint-Bonaventure Basilica. Following a triumphant tour of some of France’s most beautiful cathedrals and captivating more than 2,000,000 spectators, LUMINISCENCE returns to unveil its brand-new show, The Celestial Odyssey.
This time, something has changed: an ancient breath sweeps through the nave, the walls come to life, and the music rises… An unprecedented sensory journey where light and sound reveal what has made the heart of the basilica beat for centuries.
We advise you to arrive 20 min before the time indicated on your ticket to take advantage of the light trail in the ambulatory before moving into the nave to watch the show.
Seating is unassigned, so we cannot guarantee that your entire group will be seated together. We recommend arriving early to ensure you can fully enjoy the experience as a group.
