The Monument:
Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula

Overlooking the historic heart of Brussels, the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula embodies the splendour of Brabantine Gothic, a style emblematic of Belgium’s heritage. Built from the 13th century on the remains of a Romanesque church, it bears witness to more than eight centuries of history, faith, and artistic creation.

Constructed from white Gobertange stone, it captivates with its monumental façade flanked by two majestic towers and the colourful light of its 16th-century stained-glass windows. Inside, the soaring nave, ribbed vaults, and radiant chapels reflect all the finesse of Brabantine Gothic.

A site of royal ceremonies and national celebrations, the cathedral remains a living space of spirituality, culture, and memory, at the heart of the European capital.
