A monument of stone and silence, the cathedral once again opens itself to the lights of the story. But this time, something has changed.
An ancient breath sweeps through the nave… A figure steps forward… The walls come alive, the stained glass whispers, the music rises — The Celestial Odyssey is revealed. An unprecedented sensory journey, where light and music unveil what has, for centuries, made the heart of the cathedral beat.
You thought you’d seen it all? Get ready for the unexpected.
After a triumphant tour in the most beautiful cathedrals of France and before more than 600,000 captivated spectators, LUMINISCENCE returns to where it all began: Bordeaux, in the heart of Saint-André Cathedral, to unveil The Celestial Odyssey.
This new immersive show opens an unprecedented chapter and offers a renewed perspective on the history, soul, and timeless beauty of this UNESCO-listed Gothic gem.
A child, filled with wonder, discovers the slumbering cathedral, as beautiful as a starry night. Wondering how something so old and beautiful can endure, the cathedral awakens and takes form to answer him. She then invites him to follow the story of her history to better understand her… «It is not because she is beautiful that she is important, it is because she is important that we made her beautiful.»
Before your eyes, Saint-André Cathedral becomes a jewel box of light, where every vault, every pillar, and every stained-glass window comes to life through monumental projections. The stones are adorned with colors, details are revealed, and the centuries pass by through magnificent scenes. Between plays of light, visual effects, and astonishing perspectives, the architecture is transformed to immerse the spectator in a visual journey as spectacular as it is moving.
Each evening, an exceptional soloist opens the night: Frédéric Renoux on synthesizers, Laurence Postigo on theorbo, or Jean-Claude Welche on musical saw. Then, under the direction of Alexis Duffaure, the LUMINISCENCE Vocal Ensemble or the Chœur Voyageur perform live the new original score The Celestial Odyssey. Carried by the cathedral’s unique acoustics, notes and voices unite with the architecture, in perfect harmony with the projections.
On exceptional evenings, the Immersive Concerts present a live musical version of the show, where the LUMINISCENCE Orchestra, composed of 15 musicians under the direction of conductor Alexis Duffaure, enhances the voices of the choir. These performances offer a unique musical interpretation, where orchestral power and the choir’s emotion unite perfectly. A total sound immersion, in one of the most spectacular acoustic settings in the world.
Every weekend: October 17–18; October 24–25; October 31–November 1; November 7–8; November 14–15; November 21–22; November 28–29.

“With this second show, LUMINISCENCE continues the same mission that has driven it from the very beginning: to reveal the emotional power of heritage through an artistic, immersive experience that is accessible to everyone. The Celestial Odyssey is part of the same vision: bringing sacred spaces to life by opening them to a new form of storytelling that reaches all generations, all cultures, all sensibilities. We believe that heritage should not only be seen, but felt. Through light, sound, and narration, we hope to offer each person a suspended moment — intimate, universal — a fresh perspective on monuments steeped in history and memory.”
